Dr. Kumar Nirbhay
01 Biography

Dear Colleagues, Patients,
Readers & Well-wishers,

Dr Kumar Nirbhay is a distinguished medical professional with over two decades of clinical experience. Currently serving as a Asst. Chief Medical Superintendent at the Railway Hospital, Nagpur, he is widely respected for his diagnostic acumen, compassionate patient care, and commitment to public health.

A consistent academic achiever, Dr Nirbhay topped both his 10th and 12th standards at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Meghahatuburu — a small mining town in Jharkhand. He represented KV at the Regional level in Table Tennis and was a keen quizzer throughout his school years.

He earned his MBBS from the prestigious Grant Medical College, Mumbai, followed by an MD in General Medicine from the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune. He also holds the internationally recognised MRCP (UK) qualification from the Royal Colleges of Physicians — further underscoring his clinical expertise and global perspective in medicine.

With over 20 years of experience in the trenches of medicine, Dr Nirbhay has seen the rawest, most human side of India. This unique vantage point birthed his debut book, "The Great Indian Medico Masala" — a collection of fictional stories based on real life events from the medical world that he describes it as a biopsy of human nature.

"I have spent twenty years diagnosing the symptoms of the body. Now, I am dedicated to diagnosing the symptoms of society — and prescribing a cure through stories and service."

Dr Nirbhay is also an enthusiastic advocate for community engagement and wellness. He is the beginner of the grassroots movement "Everyone Every Sunday 100 Metres" — where citizens are encouraged to clean just 100 metres of their surroundings every Sunday. Sounds simple? Simple ideas often lead to big revolutions.

His work has been widely appreciated — not just by the local community but also by All India Radio, My FM and Central India's largest English daily, The Hitavada. He has written columns on cleanliness for The Hitavada and Kids Magazine Twinkle Star.

In his personal time, Dr Nirbhay enjoys watching short films, following football, and interacting with people from all walks of life — interests that enrich his perspective and enhance his empathetic approach to medicine and storytelling.

02 Three Callings

One Man. Three Missions.

🩺

Medicine as Duty

Healing is not merely a profession — it is a covenant. Over 20 years in IRHS, every consultation has been brought with full clinical skill and unconditional empathy.

✍️

Writing as Witness

Literature is a scalpel that cuts through pretence. His stories and columns chronicle the real India — its patients, paradoxes, and quiet heroism — with satire and surgical precision.

🌿

Activism as Prescription

A dirty street is a public health crisis. The 100-Metre Movement prescribes a cure: one person, 100 metres, every Sunday. No speeches — just action. Cleanliness is patriotism.

🇮🇳

Service as Identity

Whether in the ward, at the desk, or on the street — always in service. The Railway gave a platform; medicine gave a calling; India gave a purpose larger than any individual.

04 Philosophy

Core Values

01

Authentic Satire

Finding profound truth in the everyday chaos of the medical world and Indian life through humour.

02

Civic Ownership

Moving beyond "someone should do something" to "I will do my 100 metres."

03

Clinical Integrity

Bringing the discipline and ethics of a 20-year medical career to every column and story written.

04

Empathetic Storytelling

Honouring the deep emotional struggles of patients and citizens alike through narrative.

05

Environmental Patriotism

Treating the cleanliness of our streets as a sacred duty to the nation and its future generations.

05 Vision & Mission

Looking Ahead

The challenges facing India today — from public health gaps to civic apathy, from the collapse of reading culture to environmental neglect — are immense. But medicine has taught one essential truth: things can change. Every patient who recovers is proof. Every street that gets cleaned is proof.

Vision

The World
Working Towards

"To inspire a global culture where health is not just the absence of disease, but the presence of dignity, humour, and a clean environment for every citizen."

Mission

How We Get There,
Every Single Day

"To heal through medicine, empower through satire, and transform through action. By weaving together the lessons of the clinic, the power of the pen, and the sweat of grassroots activism, I strive to diagnose society's challenges and prescribe a cleaner, more compassionate future for India and the world."
